    compal HEL80c overheating even when idle

    Hi,

    I bought a Compal HEL80c more than a year ago at ibuypower.com it worked fine until recently it keeps shutting off randomly and i know its coz of overheating beause i can feel the laptop get super hot - i take out the power plug and start it back up and it works but that happens all the time -- i got speedfan and the SPU is fine at 49 but the core 1 and core 2 temps are high at 86 or so on average ALL the time - they dont go down.....what should i do?? please help i cant even work, i keep loosing what im doing.... :confused:

    Try to clean all dust from your HEL80, especially look at the cooler. Clean old thermopasta and use new like Artic Silwer on CPU.

    Yep I agree with de-leet. You need to clean your vents and re apply some thermal paste. Youu might also consider undervolting your cpu

    But don't open it up if your warranty is still OK or if you don't want to void it.
