what is the speed on the burner, and anybody know the actually model number? i think it is a samsung if i read right. also, upon searching, i read somewhere that you can swap them with other slim optical drives? if this correct and any more info on this?
on a side note, what is the plug in on the front of the laptop beside the black round plugin? i think it is yellow or something?
thanks, i am looking into buying this laptop.

According to powernotebooks, if you get the dual layer dvd burner, it's a "Combo Dual Layer SuperMulti 8x8x4x2.4x +/- DVD R/RW - 24x10x24 CD R/RW Drive w/Softwares (Panasonic model# UJ-850)" -- which I think Panasonic rebranded from someone else. In device manager it says "MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-850S"
.. black round? We must be talking about two different laptops. the one you're talking about must be the VBI version, or something. -
i am talking about the adapter that you can hook up a tv to it. it is round, and black. got like 12 like pins in it.
borrowed the picture from powernotebooks.com all rights reserved to them. hope they dont mind.
anyways, on this picture, the left side has something beside that black circle. what is that?Attached Files:

I'm not sure what that bit is. That image is of the left side of the laptop, with the back of the laptop on the left side of the image. I think we're talking about hte same laptop now, as that's just like mine except that my black circle (S-Video I guess) and other are covered up since I didn't get the tuner installed.

S-Video, CATV Jack (For Tuner), Cooling Vent, USB, Firewire, RJ-45 (network) PCMCIA Type II, PCI-eXpress -
And that is the TV tuner port with the cover removed in the picture. There is also an S-video out on the rear of the HEL80. -
any body done any tests on how good the dvd burner is? like they do on cdfreaks.com's forum? also in the manual, it shows three types of drives for this model (hel80). is two of them a dvd burner?
compal el80 question about dvd burner
