I think x7900(it's a Merom CPU right?) only works with the PM965 chipset. I might be wrong though..

look into a CPU that has P in the name... ie P8400 or P8600 cause their Power consumption TDP is like 10W lower than all the T-series stuff.

It has to be a P Socket (800MHz/1066MHz FSB) so P/T series should do fine - but extremes? I don't remember, double-check it at these places:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=209284
    http://www.intel.com/products/processor/core2duo/mobile/specifications.htm

Meroms and Penryns are both P Socket procs, but make sure the other specs match up.

Btw, you're going to buy from AVADirect right? I haven't seen any better deals than that one.

    EDIT: It's a P Socket! :D

    search for "x7900"

Still double-check it though. The FSBs have to match too, don't they?

no, the FSB only has to be 800MHz or 1066MHz if that's your question.

However, the comment above about the PM965 confuses me, because any P Socket should work with this model... anyone know if it works with the PM45?

It's a Merom XE processor and as far as I know it will only work on the older Santa Rosa platform.

Edit: Check the "Valid Chipset Combination" from the following link:
