just wondering if anyone knows if its possible
on the 3250hx [2200+ to 2800+]
or on the 6130h
are they socketed or soldered on

the cpu on the 6130 is socketed, can be replaced quite easily. But I regret that 3.0ghz is already close to the max it will support. I've read somewhere that the board *could maybe* support p4-m ... to be verified

p4-m? Hmm, are you meaning the new P4's in centrino notebooks? I thought I read somewhere that the sockets aren't compatible. Plus, the centrino chipsets have advanced power saving features that I doubt the 648FX supports. Maybe you could drop a newer core prescott in it (6100 series) but i doubt you'd get any substancial performance improvement. I didn't check the specs on the 533 MHz bus cpu's, you'd be taking a slight performance hit overall but if it could save some power I'd think about doing it.

I'm talking about the p4-m NOT the centrino. The centrino requires a completely different chipset.

The Mobile P4 would be interesting, if my laptop was working I'd be doing more research on it. The manual identifies the socket (on the 6100 series) as a 478pin FC-PGA2 533/800. If my laptop was working, I'd look at the sSpec and find it here http://processorfinder.intel.com I noticed that intel lists their Mobile P4's as 478 pin PPGA type. Compatible?
