    does anyone know the size of the DC power jack in the compal EL80 so that i can find a replacement? is it 2.0mm, 2.5mm etc?

    i could meausre it.. but different size plugs could be as little as a tenth of a millimeter difference in size, so it would be hard to be 100%% sure i had the right measurement, better to find someone who knows the right size for fact

    Wait, are you saying you want to know the size of the actual jack on the motherboard? Why not measure the size of the AC adapter plug tip with some precision calipers and then find a DC jack to match it? I'm not sure where you could get the precise manufactured measurement except from the original design schematics or from the company that makes the jack itself.

    why dont i use a precise set of calipers? because its easier to find someone that already knows when i dont have calipers? only a tape measure which wouldnt be accurate enough

    I apologize, I took it for granted that you would have access to calipers. I guess it's just a matter of waiting till someone who has the EL80 can measure it precisely for you.

    i found the exact model of power adapter i have, looked it up online... 2.5mm inner diameter, thats what i needed to know

    Glad hear you found what you were looking for. I was still confused. I thought you wanted to know the inner dimension of the actual DC jack on the motherboard.
