I am thinking of buying Zepto 6214W, and would like some advice on which type of screen I should go for.
I went to Zepto UK website but it only showed an option that is "Crystal Clear". Is this a glossy screen? Also is this mean matte screen is not available?
Thank you.

The took the matte off sale because demand was not in the same league as Glossy I have had both, once you get use to the Glare, glossy is better, however I doubt it would be asgood in the garden

i like my clear glossy screen but to be honest, the viewing angles are pathetic and im getting quite alot of light leakage on black. angle just under 45 degrees to the side and blacks dont looks right, whites go to greys, and even when playing a game like battlefield u have to be dead centre with it both sideways and up/down(ways) for it to look good

As far as contrast and clarity go my gloss screen is way way ahead of anything else I have used, or seen, on a laptop. I love it.
Admittedly I haven't used it in a garden which may be problematic as Juan says. But then I didn't like my old matte screened lappy in the garden either.

id have to agree with Rubber Bullets on the quality of the screen and contrast ratio e.t.c. but the problems show themselves when at least 2 people are watching a movie on it. One side of the screen looks normal and the other...just doesnt. on all the laptops ive used, this is the first time ive encountered this problem.
dont get me wrong, the screen isnt enough for me to even consider changing my 6214 for another laptop, everything else is top, but the screen could have been better.
sorry im digressing...to the OP, the glossyness of the screen is great, as in the reflections are MUCH lower than other glossy screens, but obviously not as low as matte screens. id say its a nice tradeoff, as it adds to the image quality. i wouldnt go back to a matte screen after my 6214's screen -
Thank you for your answers.

Hi there snl,
I have a matte screen on my Z. Personnally I think this fashion or actual tendancy to put glossy screens on all the lappies is relatively stupid. Pardon my frenchBut what is with that ? Sure Glossy screens look a lot better when the laptop is off and they are great mirrors, but in terms of viewing capacity when the laptop is ON they are worse than a matte screen... maybe the colors look better (that has yet to be proven), but if you have a light source coming from behind you, the only things you will see on the screen are the light bulb/sun and your face. I keep thinking, trying to find any advantage a glossy might have over a matte screen
... can't find anything.
If I were you, I'd go for the matte (I did), you won't regret it, and if by any chance you use your lappy on the train or similar conditions, you'll see why you were right to do so. (and isn't a lappy made to be usefull in any condition?) -
im not familiar with zepto or anything but my hp glossy screen has really good viewing angles, its a philips btw.

Zepto followed the consumer demand and switched their screens from matte to glossy a while back.
There are arguments in favor of both. Having used both, I would take a quality matte screen any day over a glossy one.
The general public definitely prefers glossy over matte though. Matte screens may be an endangered species at this point. -
Why is it though, that if these glossy screens are so good, desktop LCDs are always mattes? I've never come across one of them with a glossy screen. And the colours look fine on them.
-
People are crazy for these glossy screens. They do look nice, for sure.
I agree with what you say about the mattes though--the matte screen on my HEL80 (Zepto Znote 2425W's WSXGA+) is really beautiful. -
Of course they do... Glossy screen is pretty much the same as matte with a PVC layer on top.
They're not implanted on desktop LCDs because they're extremely useless. People ask for them I don't know why....
Even Tom's Hardware puts glossy specs as negative points on their LCD Tests... -
If you want something in between glossy and matte, there are varnishes available in spray cans. You can get them in an art store. Spray evenly over the screen. Don't forget to shield the keyboard with some newspaper though, so you don't get varnish into the keys and loudspeakers! And let the laptop dry upside down, the screen facing up. Then the surface will dry evenly without streaks trickling down. I did this on my laptop with great results! The screen colors turned a very slight yellowish tint, but that doesn't bother me too much. I think it is alright, considering I got a really nice surface finish!
You can also apply varnish with a brush, but be sure to use one with fine fibers, otherwise the brushstrokes will show. -
I have a 6625 with a glossy screen, and I have a lightsource behind me, but I dont see it, ofc if I want to, but, as a little advice, ty focusing on what the screen is showing, not the reflections

My post above was meant to be funny.
If only one person appreciated my sense humor and had a good laugh, my effort was not completely wasted.
It was not written to mislead and have someone ruin their computor. If I am too late in saying this, my deepest apologies.
glossy or matte screen?
