my temps keep going from 59 to 75ish when im on idle, it keeps going up and down, not at a stable temperature. I dont really want to open it up since im afraid ill mess it up.

I found out playing games keeps the gpu temp stable for some reason
I played fear and the temp stayed around 65-66. Also when i play starcraft, my temp stays at 59.

should i open it up and see whats the problem, or is it something I can fix with a program?

How long since you have cleaned out the fans, vents, and CPU/Heatsink?

If you have cleaned it recently and it still fluctuates like that I would suggest calling your reseller for help.

First start with cleaning out the vents and fans. I would do the GPU as a last resort.

Did you upgrade to the 121 Bios? I know after doing that (and even going back to 116B) I've been having the same issue's. I've been forced to check the "always run fan" to keep it low enough during gaming so it doesn't slow down the gpu.

Cleaned fans and all that too. When I get a little more time I'm going to look into it more.

Give 116B a shot, also try clicking the "always run fan" checkbox.

If you enable coolbits, it's on the overclocking page at the bottom. You have to click "Manual overclocking" in order for it to be available.

If you look at the thread for Overclocking a HEL80 started by Paladin44, he's got some info on the first page on how to unlock coolbits so you can get to the "always use fan" checkbox if you are still unsure.

If you can see the manual overclocking box, it should be on that page at the bottom. Looks something like what I've done below.

    Overclock Mode
    0 - Disabled
    0 - Auto
    0 - Manual

    ###mhz GPU Clock
    [------------------|-----------------]
    ###mhz RAM
    [------------------|-----------------]

    [ ] Fan Always On
[ ] Apply These Settings at StartUp
