The people at powernotebooks are great, I suggest you e-mail them directly or just ask a message at the bottom. When I was buying my laptop it only took about a day to get a reply.

I agree with bribri135. An email or even a quick call should get you the answer to your question very quickly.

It is either the Hitachi or Seagate because that is all we use. To see which one you have just go into Device Manager and click on the + sign next to Disk Drives and it will tell you the model number from which you can determine the manufacturer. If you can't decipher which manufacturer it is, just post the model number here.

Yay, I have Seagate. I don't like Hitachi that much because I've had a bad experience with their DeskStar drives.

There's a reason why people call them the Hitachi Death Stars. I had one die in a RAID 0 configuration. You can imagine what happened. I don't know about their laptop HDs but if Donald uses them, I'm sure they're good ;)

Teaches you to use drives in RAID-0 without a backup ;)

The "deathstar" range of deskstars from both IBM and Hitachi was like, 3 or 4 years back. They've improved quality much since then. Most drives any more are good, but you should always makes backups, no matter what brand you use.

I remember the fun these drives had... and all the hours of RMA's... and the class action lawsuit....

Thankfully, I've never had a single problem with either hitachi or seagate 2.5" drives. I'm also a pretty big fan of the deskstar drives even having lived through that nasty generation. To this day my main raid is still setup using deskstars.
