okay, the native resolution (1680x1050) is great.
but when i try to lower it, the screen is kinda stretched and blurred. also, when i play games (which mostly run at lower resolutions than the native one), the quality of the image suck.
is there a way to get lower resolutions with the same quality that we get with the native 1680x1050?

well, I just tried 840x525 (halfing the vertical and horizontal, through custom resolution in nvidia), while its clear and not stretched, its a huge sacrifice in desktop space. I found 1400x1050 to be pretty good though, seems a little stretched, but its still clear. its what I use if I want a things a bit bigger aka CS:S

The trick is in the pudding. No, wait... yes. Get to your nvidia graphics settings (for me I can right click the Desktop, go to NVIDIA Display -> Laptop Display). On the Digital Flat Panel Settings pane, select "fixed aspect ratio scaling", or "centered output". The first will keep it from being stretched to the wrong ratio, but might still leave it blurry, depending on how sensitive you are, and the resolution of the game you're playing, and other things. The second will only use the pixels for the resolution the game is set at, so it might not take up the full screen, but won't be at all blurry or stretched.
As far as the desktop is concerned, you won't be able to get a lower resolution stretched to fullscreen without a noticable loss of clarity. That's just how LCDs are. If you set it to "fixed aspect ratio scaling" though, that will at least keep it in the right ratio, so circles won't turn into ovals. -

thank you for all the replies.

I have yet to come across a game that requires me to lower my resolution. Of course, I no longer jump all over all the new releases like I used to.
hel80 - lower than native resolution
