how long does it take to recharge 9 cell battery from empty to 100%, dell claims 1.5hr on 6 cell while other users agree, this would def make or break my decision on hel80 thanks

The HEL80 manual says 4+ hours if the system is on. I know some notebooks have a rapid charge to 90% feature... (Acers for instance) that takes about 1 hour. Something to remember is that Dell might be claiming 1.5hours for a 6 cell battery while the machine is off. Typically any "active" battery use will slow the charging time significantly.

I think the charging's real quick! I haven't measured the charging time, but it's pretty good for a 9-cell battery (I'm charging mostly with the computer on)

I've got 6 notebooks with lithium batteries, and I could only dream of 90% in 1 hour... but thanks for the link!

Maybe its because most of my systems are dual battery older inspiron 8100/8200's? 16cells of juice takes a bit to dry and refill =D

Erm, scratch that, this thinkpad doesn't do it either.

I was pretty sure it had to do with a special a/c adapter and voltage regulator for the charging mechanism.. *shrug*
