will they ever have a glossy screen for the wsxga+ resolution? i don't see why it automatically switches to matte when you make the upgrade on websites... any news?

I don't know the exact reason why..but for quite some time now glossy was only limited to xga/wxga resolutions for every notebook size bar 17". it was only recently that we started seeing wsxga that was glossy. A few models last year were similar to the HEL80 in which the lower resolution was glossy, but higher ones were still matte. Im guessing it has to due with something in the manufacturing process?

The ASUS Z96J has a glossy WSXGA+ screen that you may like.

I'm personally glad that I was able to get a WSXGA+ matte screen after owning a 17" WUXGA glossy one.

Heh. A developer here got bit the other way... Dell only offer it's high-res screens in glossy. He wanted a matte screen, but they only offer a stupidly low res on 17" screens in matte, and he didn't notice it. Low resolution on a developer workstation is a pain in the arse. At least he has Linux + virtual desktops, helps mitigate the issue.
