Do any lights come on when the computer was plugged into the power socket? There is usually a light which indicates that the computer is connected and /or charging the battery.

If there is a power light then I would wonder whether the RAM has got unseated during delivery. This can cause a computer to not start. Removing and replacing the RAM is usually quite easy and may be explained in the manual.

EDIT: John beat me to it :p

    sounds odd.

Did you gently press it the power button? Maybe you could apply more pressure (not too much though hehe) to make sure you actually pressed it in.

Are any of the LED-lights lid when you connect the power cable to the laptop?

    nope, no lights come on.

There is no manual with it which is a bit odd- only 3 photocopied pages in german tellin u how to attach the power cable n install windows. the green light on the lil power box comes on but the laptop is dead!

i don't think i should go n try doin anythin like tryin to remove the RAM lol!

    hmmmm... annoyin!

    does it require charging?

Have you tried deattaching the battery ?
The instructions [or at least pictures] are found in the guide.

I've had to do that once to get my laptop started, so you should try it out. Detach the battery, wait 5 min, then attach it again
