I have a quite similiar problem, but mine doesnt Hibernate, it just keeps running until you cut the power manually, wich is quite annoying, becos all your programs and such are lost, you have to restart it.
But a even wierder thing is that this doesnt happen every time you hibernate the laptop, just sometimes.

btw, is it the Zepto or Vista that shuts down the screen when u hibernate/sleep? I find it annoying especially at hibernating cos you dont have a clue of how far in the hibernation it is...

I believe the blank screen during hibernation is a Vista feature. XP's progress bar was very useful so Microsoft probably thought they should improve on it.

In the absence of the progress bar, look at the HDD activity light. Does this keep running continuously?

Well to a start it its on all the time, but after maby 5-10sec it goes dark and just flashes like its idling.

But the problem might be caused by a program on my comp. It has a thing that can prevent the hibernation, but when the screen goes black and you dont have a chanse to resume your session after that, i have to cut the power. On XP it didnt start the hibernation process, so you could stop the program and then hibernate.

    Stupid Vista

First, if you haven't seen them already, apply the two Vista patches mentioned here. They fix a number of problems.

I then suggest that you do some trouble-shooting. First close down all open programs. Then go into Task Manager and look at the open programs (there shouldn't be any except Task Manager) then look at the active processes.

It will be a case of killing the processes. Process Explorer will help you understand which processes link to what software.

However, rather than kill processes at random, it may be better to stop them loading. Use MSconfig (Start > Run > msconfig ) to temporarily stop programs / services loading at bootup and see if you can them get the computer to hibernate. First try the diagnostic startup option. (I see that I have a Sonix camera monitor application, but I don't have a camera!).
