As Ive been reading through different threads here I've come across people mentioning the use of profiles to tweak the settings on their laptop to get the most out of it.

I'd like to do the same, but havent been able to track down an actual "how to"

I am looking to have two different setups:

    1. gaming - overclocking of the GPU
    2. battery life - dropping what i can to get the most juice

i read the thread on the GPU and simply use the clockrate adjustment inside the NVIDIA control panel, but forget to manually go in and change it back.

I looked into 'rivatuner' (i think thats what it was called) but could not really figure it out, and was unable to set my settings above 300.

I also downloaded RMclock but that program was even more confusing on first glance. Is there a general consensus on what to set in order to extend battery life?

are there any tutorials out there you guys are using?

What other little tricks do you guys have up your sleeves? :0

my primary use for the laptop is everyday computing - aim, web, email, word, entertainment, but when i get really bored ill get a session of WoW going or encode videos.

    Thanks!

Please use the search to find all sorts of information on setting up RMclock by me, specifically for a core duo /core 2 duo.. should be some nice info, a link or two for tutorials, as well as I went through my suggested setup SEVERAL times, start at the end of the thread and work back till you find the most recent complete listing.

The sticky here in the Compal forum has an excellent guide to enable coolbits and overclock your go 7600.

Search pyro9219's posts on RM Clock for information on that.

For battery life, lower the brightness of the LCD, disable wifi and any other devices not needed, and disable any programs you do not need.

Riva Tuner has a great thread in the Dummy Guides Form by Gophn. He gives excellent step-by-step instructions.
