My audio doesn't work. I have a compal ifl90 and recently switched from vista to xp. The audio used to work on vista.

I was wondering if anyone had the same problem as me. I've tried many solutions but none seem to work. Not even the realtek drivers, compals site, bizcom, or sagers.

The drivers do install, but my windows doesn't seem to detect my hardware.

Here are some images of my device manager.

I've been installing / booting / checking / uninstalling / booting to test all the drivers.
Any bit of advice is welcome, thanks.

First of all install Microsoft hotfix for high definition audio. Win XP will not support high definition audio without this hotfix. The hotfix is in the realtek driver folder, in subfolder MSDFQE or something. And than install the driver. Everything should be fine.

What delta90h said. My vague recollection is that sound didn't start working under a fresh xp install, until after I'd done the modem drivers or something crazy like that.

I installed the modem driver, restarted, then installed the realtek and restarted, but this didn't seem to work.

I'll install every single driver first before the audio, then i'll try the audio and that might fix it.

Is there any specific order in which i should install these drivers?

thanks to sunjhoon on these forums, i was able to fix my problem. ( this is directed to whoever has the same problem as me. )

All you have to do is install the uaa hotfix. Then on the device manager, go to system services, and you should have an exclamation mark ( yellow flag ) on the PCI Device.

Right click it, update driver. Then install the realtek drivers from their website.
This is what worked for me.

Thanks to all who helped me.

UAA fix is done automatically if you install the WDM_xxx Executable.

If you don't install the drivers it won't work.

Search for other post, and you will find the answer you need to solve this issue.
Little update is to install the MS WIN XP fix to be able to use HD audio.
Search and you will find it.

I have XP SP3 and I cannot install this hotfix, it tells me it is already installed. Yet I experience the same problems as if I do not have the hotfix.
    Any help?
