I reckon I'm due for a thorough cleaning/dust-removal, but am a little nervous. What do I need to do? Are there any videos or step by step disassembly instructions?
-
Sorry, I'm trying to sen d you the pdf files, wait a min.
-
There is a disassembly guide linked in this thread if you dont want to wait a min

Thanks guys. Looks a little intimidating! Will have to wait 'til I'm sober to give that a shot...
-
Easy to do and nothing can go wrong when you follow the instructions.
-
Can we put the disassembly guide in a sticky thread?
-
That's a good idea.
-
BTW, I personally just pass the vacuum machine by the ousite and it's enough to get most of the dust out.
-
You can also use something like an air duster or clean air-spray these.
-
The air-spray won't work, you must open the laptop to use it.
-
I have tried this and it's working fine.
Different model air-spray maybe??? -
What spray are you using?
-
Impega Pressurized Air Duster
-
Is it powerful?
-
Will the vacuum with a closed case do the trick?
-
-
If you use a regular on low strength vacuum machine gently and not to close it will work, I have done it and no problems so far, but it's at your own risk of course.
-
The best is to remove the CPU fan unit, use the air-spray and a brush (soft).
-
Then you have to open the laptop and the warranty would be voideable.
-
NO NO you can take the cover off, this isn't something hard, you don't have to open the complete notebook.
-
But still count as opening the laptop from the warranty perspective, doesn't it?
-
Yep, But only you know I know and do they know???, don't tell
-
Ok, is a "don't tell I don't know" situation.
-
-
he warranty sates if you open the laptop. Even though you don't reach or evn touch any hardware, you may still brake them with a statics discharge.
-
@Ayle
Yep your correct don't break any seal.
And yep the covers are there to be removed, or do you send you notebook to the vendor with the request to clean the CPU/GPU fan and other parts because ot the dust.
@Wirelessman
Have you never done anyhting lik this before.
It looks like yoe are the honest one, but my guess is you will do it.
Yep but then again these notebooks are almost always sold to a person that knows what he bought and how to handle the machine. -
I will probably stick to mild vacuuming from out side. Can take the risk. Little dust cant hurt the warranty..I don't think they can prove it
-
That's sounds good.
