Has anyone found a turn around to increase the volume of the hgl30 further more? Even with windows' setting at max, the volume is very very quiet. Just wondering if you guys got any tips other than putting headphones

In what situations is the audio too low for you? Playing games? CDs? Listening to internet audio?

If it's internet audio, I think that certain sources are just naturally softer. But notebook speakers are really not that powerful--so perhaps an inexpensive set of external speakers would do the trick for you.

You could use the EQ in the Realtek control panel to boost all the frequencies. Sound quality would probably decrease though.

Amplified 5.1 Systems work pretty well...

you can also search here for the bizcom site and check if you have the latest drivers. I know I've tried about 5-6 versions and the volumes float a little bit from driver to driver..

not sure why you folks are having volume issues unless it's your codecs or driver versions. My HEL80 is loud as hell at full volume.

Try installing something called K-lite mega codec pack to see if it helps you out. Make sure during the install you select a dvd codec.

Hey pyro i installed the codec you suggested and strangely DVDs in particular play very faintly. All other types of sound online, mp3 or any play just fine but DVDs on the other hand are very hard to listen too. Is their anything i should look for.

Something i noticed that might be helpful is that when i look at the mixer sound bar the moves up and down as sound is being outputted, when i play music that thing is usually going up and down close to the top, with the DVDs its way at the bottom.

I will try to get a pic.

    thanks
    pete

If you have media player classic, you can turn up the sound with that.

Did you make sure to pick a DVD codec? Should be InterVideo and Cybersomething as choices. I notice you have vista (something I'm trying to avoid) , which touts having some sort of application independant volume system. Maybe thats the root of your problem. Unfortunatly if it is I have no way of knowing how to fix that, or properly configure it. :/

Ah, it could definitely be a Vista issue there. I too am avoiding it. And knowing that Microsoft is already looking to replace Vista in two years doesn't help.

Give it some time to mature and the little bugs should get ironed out.
