I see the asus has a smaller battery, and a grainyness issue. Does this alone make the HEL80 a better buy? Assuming identical prices ... which would you get and why?

Im looking for a 15.4 WS with an X1600 or better (is there better?). Not alot to choose from it seems. I do like the fact that the HEL80 comes with an extended battery tho ...

It depends on what your needs are. The HEL80 has more features than the Asus. The only thing the HEL80 lacks, compared to the s/z96j is the glossy WSXGA display. Some people really like the matte and some like the glossy, it just depends on what your needs are. The Video Cards are nearly the same in performance.

The extended battery on the HEL80 coming stock is nice compared to the 6 Cell on the Asus.

Correct answer: What Justin said above. It depends on what you want. You won't find better than an X1600/Go7600 in a 15.4" though (which is why I went for the 14.1" HGL30... it's slightly more portable, and just as powerful)

There's has already been a lot of discussion on this very topic. Bottom line is, you go with the system that fits you best. Being that these two are very similar--it will come down to screen type or your preference for one or the other's features/appearance.
