... one day earlier and want to say that I really love it!![]()
before ordering it, after reading some reviews and looking at Zepto's site I had some concerns about:
- fans being loud
- overheating
- the silver border not looking good
- keyboard problems on the right side of the keyboard
- problems with open/closing the dvd
but want to say that none of this actually exsists as a problem! (at least on my machine)
it's a really good looking and compact machine with a lot of power! so far I tried Command&Conquer: Kane edition and Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault and both games are running at 1440X900 at MAXIMUM details without problem.
the only cons I found so far:
- ctrl and FN key, yes I know everybody is complaing about that![]()
- alt and \ keys (alt should be just beside the space bar, I don't know why every laptop manufacturer is trying to come up with some weird "usefull innovations" on the keyboard front)
- the zepto sleeve is a little too tight, and is hard to zip it, but I guess it will strech with regular use
- some drivers are missing on the CD, you have to download them from zepto's ftp
as you can see, these are all minor subjective cons, in general an excellent machine that I would certainly recomend.
that being said, does anyone know if it's possible to swith the alt and \ keys? I know it's not possible with the ctrl and fn ones as fn is not exactly a key, but I hope it would be possible with alt and \
cheers![]()

You can remap all the keys except for the Fn key.
I didn't like not having a right "Ctrl": I never use the Windows keys so I have remapped one of those. MapKeyboard seems to do the job, and it's free. There's also KeyTweak, Keyboard Remapper and no doubt some others.
I don't know how easy it is to pull the key caps off and move them to match the remapping. Try that at your own risk.

Yeah, I found that with the sleeve, but it does stretch and also you have to get the knack of doing it right. You kind of close the zips round so that only one corner is poking out, then you flip the lip of the sleeve over that corner. It's a bit tricky to explain, but you'll get used to it.
With the alt and \ keys, you can read my thread about swapping buttons around ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=154220) and I can send you a registry file that will swap the buttons if you like. -
my sleeve is nice and baggy, maybe from a different model..

Congrats with the new zepto...
1) What drivers did you download from the ftp? I had everything i needed on the cd?
2) Fans are not loud? Or they just don’t bother you ?
anyway.. .good luck with it.. -
thanks for the replays everybody!
my sleeve is already getting better, so I think I shouldn't have mentioned it in the cons
John, I just downloaded the program and I'm about to test it.
Saxdave, just wrote you a pm, about the ql buttons
makaveli: I had to download the drivers for the zepto wireless card, because on the cd there were drivers only for the intel wireless
about the fans - you can say that they are somehow loud at the highest rate, but it happens only when playing games or doing something very processor-demanding, which I think is normal as far as this is 14" power machine
I'm missing something that I had on my old toshiba: power profiles. you could make profiles with different settings for processor power, screen brightness, etc, which is very usefull for battery life, or if you want to make your pc totally quiet and leave it to download something at night.
do you know if there are programs that can substitute that? -

You can use Notebook Hardware Control to at least control the CPU speed.
