I'm addicted to TeamFortress2, and have been wishing that my IFL90's built-in microphone worked better. But it isn't sensitive enough (I have to lean in real close and speak VERY loudly to get it to register).

So for Xmas, my wife bought me a pair of headphones w/ built-in microphone, on a little wand that extends right out to my mouth. But it's only barely any better. I've gone into the Volume Control, and set the line-in / microphone level to maximum, which helped a little, but not nearly enough. (Yes, I'm certain I have the headphone/mic plugged into the correct audio jacks on the laptop).

Any suggestions? A better microphone? Update my RealTek sound drivers? Am running 32-bit XP Pro...

enable mic boost in volume control's recording setting.
    that should solve the problem.

    > enable mic boost in volume control's recording setting.

Took some searching, but finally stumbled across that in an 'Advanced Properties' button. Turned it on, and it's working nicely now, thank you, sir!

Had the same issue, updated drivers form the realtek website.

And what about background noise from internal mics? Did you find any solution for this?

Is there anything that would UNCHECK the Microphone Boost checkbox in Advanced Controls for Mic Volume? I'm 100% certain that I didn't do that, but after noticing nobody could hear me again in TF2, there it was, undeniably not checked...

Well, a reboot definitely clears that mic-boost checkbox. Guess I'll have to look for a driver update.
