I was taking a look at the pics of the HGL30 that I ordered, but I don't see a Kensington lock hole. Did I miss it, or is it just not there?
Even still, I haven't ever owned a notebook, so I don't know much about the locks. Do the Kensington locks actually work, or should I get one of those that connect to my VGA port?

Yes, the Kennsington lock port is on the left side.
These locks have been used successfully for years...but as with any security device if the thief REALLY wants it...they get it -
Can you tell me a little more about the lock? What is it used for? Is there supposted to be a key for it?...because i didn't recieve one....

The lock hole that you are refering to does not actually function as the lock. It is merely the hole that a kensington lock attaches to. Typically, you loop the lock around a stationary piece of furniture and then attach the lock end to the hole and lock the lock...if that makes any sense. This should depict it: http://us.kensington.com/html/1434.html
