how can i measure cpu temp on the gl-30? anyone knows?

Try notebook hardware control.

An alternative to NHC (which can be a little resource hungry) with a much smaller memory footprint would be something like Mobile meter it's what I use on my W3.
Check it out:

i tried to use both programs NHC and mobilemeter, and both do not show me cpu temp. NHC is also saying that the acpi service is not initialized for this machine. anyone knows why and how to fix?

bump... anyone knows?

I recommend to tryout SpeedFan as well... its a pretty nice freeware.
If that doesnt work, I would check your BIOS and set it to default to make sure the power management options are at normal settings. -
Try Core Temp...

core temp works! thanks guys. i get a temp reading of 45-50 deg C. is this ok for this GL-30? or should it be lower?

That is a good temp. For load, you will see anything from 60-65C. With two instances of SETI@Home running, I get a load temp of 62C.
