just thought id mention i installed them on 2 machines today and they are running very very nice so far.. might want to try them out. they are the newest official nvidia release. still need to use modified inf but they seem to be rock solid.

here is the inf i used: http://rapidshare.com/files/125055591/nv_disp.inf

the driver is direct from nvidia web site

What do you mean by "working much better"? Have you measured FPS in games or sth?

When using the modded inf, it's clear to me these are not designed to work with the mobile version.
so for me the best is still the 167.59 WHQL and these do work fine and stable.

    Hi,
I am new here and I would need some help.
I have just bought a jfl92 (core 2 duo, 4 gb ram, 8600M Gt) but I dont really understand what kind of versions are you talking about becasue the driver version I have is completely different from yours. (Mine: 7.15.11.5610)
Do you use a desktop driver for your notebook or what? Does it work properly?
Can you recommend me a stable and good one?

    Thanks in advance.

I think, the last 5 digits is the forceware x number, so by you is version 156.10

If you want to use cuda for stuff like folding@home or 3dsmax, get the 177.89, otherwise just get the 175.19 they are better than the 177 when it comes to perfs IMHO.

Thanks for your help but where can I get it because when I run the automated updater on nvidia.com It advised me that I should look at my retailer s website for the OEM notebooks.
But on compal.com I cannot find the exact model name which I have, in addition as I see those drivers are a bit old...
So can you give me the website where I will be able to download it?

v177.41 here on a Compal JFL92 w/ 8600M GT 512mb and running like a champ. I got them from LaptopVideo2Go.com of course. No problems at all so far with games, graphics, NV Control Panel, etc. I haven't had any problems in BF2, BF2142, SecondLife or Oblivion.

I don't have a set of applications to test with yet. I only use HWMonitor, GPU-Z, and Riva Tuner to monitor atm. Could someone point me to a post that has a good set of testing tools for GPU drivers? There are newer WHQL versions in the 177 series of drivers but .41 has been working well for me so I'm hesitant to update again till I know how to better test.

@Pukemon --> My bad... I should have specified. I'm still running XP Pro SP3 32-bit. I'm running v177.41 on both my laptop (8600m GT 512mb) and my desktop which is an SLI'd BFG 8800 GT 512mb rig.

@zfactor --> Update that you asked for... I went through all the settings in the control panel and the only thing I've found that won't work for me is the Smart Dimmer settings. By that I mean that none of the radio buttons will activate when I click them and no other settings will stick when applied. I don't know if it's because of driver version compatibility or if the 8600m GT doesn't support that feature. My time, ability, and software toolkit to do serious testing are somewhat limited. All I can say is my graphics don't glitch, stutter, etc., the games I've played on it run just fine, and all seems stable other than the Smart Dimmer controls.
