    hey guys,
I have been trying to install more recent nvidia drivers, like the 91.31 drivers. when i run setup for these or the most recent 'go' drivers, i get this error saying that setup could not find any drivers that are compatable with my hardware, which is especially weird for the 7600go drivers. anyone else have this issue?

addition: i was able to install the drivers off the cd. i tried the 91.31 and got this problem, then i just went with the stock drivers for this reason. either way, i dont think this should be happening and i feel this is a problem that should be resolved because i SHOULD be able to use updated drivers if i chose. i need to get this resolved in order to get drivers installed on my windows vista beta 2 partition, because i also have this issue within vista with the vista beta drivers from nvidia.

Make sure you install the moded or enhanced inf. For some weird reason nvidia doesn't create drivers for all the graphics so some people changed the inf in order for everyone to install it.

When you get the inf just copy/paste into the setup folder and then run setup and you should be fine.

Nvidia Go drivers need modded INF files. Go to driverheaven.net or laptopvideo2go.com and get the latest Catalyst modded drivers.

    Try this guide:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=64910

I found the stock 83.90 drivers included with the HEL80 gave very good performance - I also tried the 91.31's, and they didn't improve performance as far as I could tell. 3DMark05 was the exact same.

Performance increases may not always be the reason to update to the latest drivers. Sometimes they fix issues in games that you play. Although alot of times people do it if there is supposed to be a performance increase for a particular game. 3DMark05 is a synthetic benchmark so I wouldn't expect it to change from release to release.

Certainly true. I had to change drivers from the stock 83.90 to a newer version (I used 91.31) to get 3DMark06 to run.

Before updating drivers, it's always a good idea to read the release notes.

Chaz, good that you talk about that because i get an error on the start of 3dmark06 related to a si3.dll, was this your case? because i installed the latest nvidia drivers and it still goes wrong..

Actually, 3DMark-6 refused to even open when I had the stock 83.90's installed - I would get an error report before it got past the splash screen.

I'd try DriverCleaner Pro to clean up your system - get rid of any old drivers. See if that helps.

If you extract that driver and look at the .inf for the 84.63 on NVIDIA's site, they're only for 7800/7900 mobile cards.
