its exactly 300$ more than the x9100. would YOU spend the money on it if it was your desicion and you were buying this system? im just not sure if i should justify the extra 300$ over the x9100 .... so if you were in my shoes would you spend it? also both are oem chips not es ones
thanks

For what exact reason do I need a quad-core [at that price] in my mobile for...
That's my answer -
okay so i have one no who else??
-
Unless you plan to have alot of apps running and they take advantage of the extra cores go ahead. Otherwise, the dual core should be enough. I finally got the q9100 and i went from a p8600. I noticed my system a bit more spiffy.
Honestly, I would really save the $300.00 and wait until this stupid recession crap blows over. -
wow i thought this would be opposite of this...

You can get some serious scores and the game benchmarks have increased with the bios and new drivers:

Now with the new bios the quad will out-perform the dual! -
looks like about 14500-1500 with the x9100 and about 1000-1500 more with the quad. but that is 3dmark. that does not always translate to real world use/games.. whats the difference real world. also i think ive seen a 17k score at the highest now with a seriously oc'ed 9300
what about clock for clock. say the 9100 at 3.3 vs the 9300 at 3.3 thats what im wondering since im sure i will not be jacking this to 3.5+ for regular use -
If you box them clock for clock then of course the 9300 knocks it out of the ring, but I'm curious as to what percent of the time the other two cores will be used...
I am all for quad-cores, no doubt, but it's hard to justify the price on this one. It is definitely "future-proof", but later you'll be able to buy bigger and badder ones for same price or cheaper, so is it really? X9100 is the best mobile dual there is...definitely a nice choice. And you can save yourself $300 for something else...
I know a big part of it is being able to say theres a quad-core in this badboy when someone asks, and it feels great, but if you told them you also whipped out $300 for something not going to affect your life significantly they might not be as impressed. 1000-1500 more in benchmarks, what do they really mean at the end of the day? How much more FPS is that in every other game? $300 for a bigger e-p3nis is not worth it to me, IMO (sorry for language). -
i may even get another 25-50$ knocked off ...but its still 250-275$ more but yeah i mean am i going to see 1-maybe 5 more fps?
-
Depends on the game too. If you're planning on playing games such as Supreme commander then the quad core would probably help. Otherwise, just stick with a nicely clocked dual core for now.
-
IMO you should wait a while before purchasing the 9300 besides being on a recession you're on deflation so prices should be going down as well. And I think you'll be better off with the 9100 than with the Quad. 1 - 5 FPS difference is not that big of a deal. you could always resell the 9100 or you can put it in one of the systems you repair/build or use.

Well, z.. Pm me about the deal. I may part with my x9100. I'd be buying a 9300 if that were the case tho.
quad core all the way.
-
Maybe I can find an AW sucker to even swap me
-
lol there is only one available to me at this price..i may be able to get another but i dont know yet

What do you plan to do for thermal management, doesn't the QX9300 require a different heatsink? I'm wanting to put one in my Qosmio X305-Q706 but I haven't worked out the heatsink details yet. I saw this one for HP's with QX9300's http://www.dectrader.com/494210-001...lebase&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=parts Not sure if it will work on the Qosmio's.

not as far as im told its the same one as ocz supplies
okay so i found a qx9300 but...
