just rec'vd the laptop i won on ebay (3150). i'm having trouble w/ the cdrom (dvd/cdrw). it won't recognize cd i put in. i can see the drive in "my computer" but when i put a cd in, it shows nothing. i checked the properties of the drive and it says that the drive is working properly. i tried updating the driver and it says that there is no other updated available.
also, whenever i put a cd in the drive it makes a grinding noise. i'm guessing the drive was either previously damaged (seller claims this isn't so) or it was damaged in the mail.
anyway, just making sure i've covered all my bases as far as trouble shooting.
thanks... Deo

If you cannot read a CD, try reading a DVD. If that doesn't work, my guess is that the cdrom is dead. Oh and try blowing some air inside, maybe there's dust on the lens ..
