I just bought a brand-new Averatec laptop from Staples. When I booted it up I noticed that two of the pixels on the screen were burned out. This is my first pc so I don't know much about them. Is this a common occurance? Should I send it back?

This is not to common anymore, only when I get my laptop's or Flatscreen panel. Staples has a great return policy. I would take it back and have them give you a new one. You may want to take it out of the box and check it in the store.
I am thinking about getting the Averatec myself from Sam's club only because they have a 6 month no questions asked 100% return guarantee

Most places won't return on two dead pixels, but more power to you if you can pull it off.

Staples has a great return policy to matter what reason

Well, I called Staples and they'll let me return it. Problem is, I don't have a car so they have to ship it to me. I'm getting screwed on the shipping costs but at least I'll get another one. I hope my rebate will still work. And I really hope the one they send won't have any dead pixels!
All in all, I like the laptop though.
