hello, i am interested in the 3214w, but i am wondering why the "This model will not work with Windows XP" means
whats the problem with the laptop and xp?
also, the laptops info page state some uptime with minimal and max use
what does the minimal use include? minimum brightness settings, and everything off?

There's a message in the drivers section of the Zepto site which says:

So it appears that there's not a full set of XP drivers for that notebook and they have not posted any.

What is interesting, however, is that XP is offered as an operating system option in the 3214W configuration  (UK site - I didn't check the others).

Perhaps one of the Zepto support people can clarify which hardware on this notebook lacks XP support?

And your interpretation of minimal usage is probably correct: Backlight on minimum and functions such as wireless turned off. 3 hours on a 14" machine with the X3100 with a 6 cell battery is not very impressive. They claim 3.5 hours for the 6024W but at the moment I'm not getting that because the current BIOS lost some CPU power management functionality. Mayb the 3214W doesn't have that functionality either.

There has been made a decision that we are not going to sell the 3x14/3x15W with XP at all.
There where no WHQL certified drivers for all parts of the laptop and all the extra software when we started selling the machines, and not all software is working under XP for the machine yet. So the decision has been made by the company not to sell XP for the machines at any point, and therefore we are not updating with XP drivers.

The information on the FTP has also been updated with this.

    Thanks for the clarification.

Can you please make sure that the sales end of your site doesn't offer XP as an option for the operating system (which is the current situation, at least for UK.zepto). This is guaranteed to cause confusion.

I can say that im running my 3415w on XP right now - and I've managed to get everything to work. I would even recommend using XP if you know what you are doing, since performance is a lot better than vista in basically everything. Also, nvidia just released their 163.44 drivers that fully enables hardware decoding on the 8600m gt for XP. Loving it :)
