Hello, I've had an HP notebook for 1year and a half, and it worked fine until it burned 2 hard disks in 1 month.

I need a new notebook, and I found ths AVERATEC 6210 HX60 - it sounds interesting.

    - AMD Athlon™ XP-M 2400+
    - 512 MB DDR PC2100 RAM
    - 60 GB Hard Drive
    - Modem 56k
    - 10/100 NIC 802.11g Wireless LAN
    - SIS M741 Video 64MB
    - 15.4" Wide XGA
    - AC'97 integrated sound
    - Solid notebook base, built with Magnesium Alloy for ultra durability
    - 4 USB

I wonder if it is a reliable pc - it comes with only 90 days of warranty.
I also wonder if it isn't too slow or anything like that.

    Thank you very much! [:I]

Here's a review of this notebook

It seems like a nice laptop, never used it myself. It has good specs and you get a lot for your money, but Averatec's build is not as good as other brands.

Actually with the 6200 series Averatec's reputation is almost irrelevant. The 6200 series is a rebranding of MSI's Megabook 610 (look familiar?), and I would almost trust MSI with my life. I've been buying their motherboards exclusively since the first version of the 6380 (the K7T266 Pro four years ago).

If you are getting the 90 day warranty, then you are most likely getting a refurbished laptop. The general term on averatecs limited warranty is 1 year.
