I recently bought my laptop,AVERATEC 5110HX, and hadn't noticed this problem. The dot could barely be seen but when it is agianst dark backgrounds, it can be seen clearly. Does anyone know a solution or why this happened. I appreciate the help.

This should be a defective pixel. It may not be completely dead if it's appearing as a different color (red). It's possible that some of the other colors are burned out (each pixel is made of red/blue/green). You can try rubbing that area lightly, make sure it's LIGHTLY. Press it too hard and you could crack the LCD, and that's not covered under warranty. if it's just a loose pixel, rubbing it lightly could re-seat the pixel properly and get it working again. Remember, LIGHTLY & be CAREFUL.
