Here is my response to a new owner of a sharp al27. I loved mine at fist too, and still do if it does,t shut down from overheating?

Hey, i hope everything goes well with your al27....i am sending this thread from my al27 that i bought 1 year 10 months ago and i am hoping it does not shut down on me from overheating? it has slowly started to do it more and more after the warranty went out? hum...sounds kind of fishy to me....plus the battery stopped taking a full charge right after the warranty went out...huuuummmmm. that's wierd. Well i now have no battery at all since the battery went totally dead a few months ago.... i geuss the term laptop or portable is no longer in effect for my unit since i have no working battery? i hope you have better luck with yours. please anbody let me know if you are having these same problems.

    James

Got mine Dec 2005 as Christmas present. Loved it. Sometime around March 2006, the battery gave out on me. I sent my battery to the folks at this website http://www.batteryrefill.com/laptops/sharp/CE-BL38.phtml and they refilled it for $79 plus $10 shipping. Much cheaper than buying a new one. If you prefer to just order a new bettery from them, they sell it for $109 right now.

As far as over heating, mine has not shut off for over heating, but I cannot call it a laptop because it gets so hot that it burns my lap! Any ideas on how to solve this issue?

Got the same problem with Sharp Mebius
0 battery life, if you pull the power cord the lights go out.
3hrs operational life before it gets too hot and shuts down.

Seems like battery manufacturers either giving us the screw or need to seriously review their technology. Hope the massive numbers of recalls make them do something.
