Hi guys,
I had my heart set on a NP5796 from Xoticpc until I heard about this notebook. Seems like you are getting much more computer for the money... my only problem is that it doesn't look like the ATI cards in crossfire are getting better FPS in games then the Nvidia single cards... How is the cooling compaired to the 5796? Is this something that eventually will be fixed with drivers? I am very impressed with the 3d mark06 scores. What do you guys think OCZ whitebook over the NP5796 or vice versa? They are both very similar in price.
-
-
I guess it depends on certain games. For instance, it seems to struggle on Crysis and FC2, though there is indication of driver issues. Games such as UT3are up there with the 9800M GT in SLi
-
how is the cooling on it?
-
-
what about fan noise? I have an alienware M7700 thats on its last legs... and it sounds like a jet plane when the fans turn on... hows the whitebook?
-
It is really quiet in my opinion. The high fans dont kick on often and when they do they arent that loud.
-
so in general do you think this would be a better purchase then the 5796? what are your opinions?
-
I enjoy my Killer Notebook. It is the best purchase I have every made in regards to electronics. Mark has done an awesome job and has a ton of stuff in the works. Wouldnt have ordered anything different and Mark has earned my business from this point out.
-
-
Wait for the 4xxx series GPUs to become available. I would definitely buy the OCZ over the Sagers.
-
Yea, the ocz is much better than the 5796. However, I am still really partial to the 9262. It would be killer if we could get it to overclock.
-
-
Well, yea you can overclock the gpu, but I am still holding out for a cpu overclock that doesnt require us to mess with the actual hardware.
-
umm..you dont have to. SetFSB
-
-
my bad..was scannin thru the post and thought he was referring to the OCZ. The 9262 will only overclock with a pin mod, and some BIOS help. (speculating) -
Nah no bios oc either. Which really sucks. They need to change that asap, or at least help get setfsb to work.
-
Hmm.. maybe there's no PLL?
-
well we have the pll, but its really unique so none of the current ones work. I dont know why they havent been able to do anything with it, but they just havent.
-
is it possible there is a MOBO jumper for the FSB? Some desktops are like that.
-
you can pin mod the 9262, but the problem is...you would have to take the fastest 1066 chip you could find, and then pin mod it up to 1333. the q6600 is just as fast as the 9650 when modded. just without the price over head & 65nm. i think i figured out how to do a q6700, but don't have one to try. or you could probably run a 3.33 e8500 to produce some pretty good results in dual core mode.
-
well when are the 4xxx cards coming out? I am in need of a CPU soon. Will it be before Christmas?
-
Possible but not probable.
-
4850 should be out by christmas.. 4870 by end of jan.
-
Wishful thinking if you ask me. Since they even removed it form their list of current models.
-
-
Umm I dont know why there is such a plethora of misinformation comming from guesswork.
The 3870's our on par or exceeding the Nvidia 9800's in almost every GAMING platform. Their are a few exceptions to this rule. -
thats one game like i said
I do have some numbers that are close though. -
Mhopper try, fallout3, farcry2, Stalker Clear Sky - those are very heave GPU depending games. Stalker even supports DX 10.1 now.
I cant benchmark Crysis but in FarCry2 I get 50fps average at WSXGA + 2xAA and everything at ultra
Fallout3 runs maxed out and WSXGA 8xAA and 16xAA with all Ultra settings at min 45fps. U can check my youtube profile to see gameplay vids -
IN far cry 2 I have seen 47 AVG FPS in without the new BIOS update. , I did lose some data when I reinstalled Vista but I will reinstall and run it again for you. I didnt do fallout 3 but will see about getting a copy this weekend.
-
I have some work to finish up tonight but will run Furmark and Vantage here at some point.
Also im not down talking or saying the Nvidias suck by any means Im just stating m opinion form my experience. -
-
Ummm you know how many times your BIOS has been updated lmao.
And I was also talking about no OCed -
2: i have no bios over clocking
3: i have no front side bus software working either. my gpus are doing all the work. they are working with what they got, not what they can get by over clocking the whole system as a whole.
4: no heat mods/optimizations/optimized drivers/case mods/extreme cpu's/tech support or anything else for that matter. these are factory drivers
i see you got jokes for real!
all good though.
edit: now if ya whoop me by no means will i try to make excuses on why you beat me...but i will congratulate you to the fullest!! -
No I mean before you got the computer how mnay times the Bios has been updated in that machine. Its been out a hair longer than this one hehe.
-
now as for the ati cards, that is a vbios and nothing to do with the machine bios. and last you mentioned. your system was running way better than "up to par" and the only issue you said you really had was the "drivers" if you had better drivers. so you lost me my friend...what does the system bios have to do with your drivers? that guy that hit 16.6k in vista. he seems to have either unlocked the almost full potential or full potential of this laptop, but then he flashed his vbios and you haven't.
so help me to understand this.... -
Im excited to see the showdown. As much as people say the ocz is the new king, I still think I like my 9262. Im hoping one day we will have overclocking on it and I can say "The King is Back!" Although, I really think that event is unlikely.
-
The only thing flashing my bios did was corrected the Bios multiplier its still running at the same thing as far as the BIOS multiplier goes. Now at some point when they fix it will be able to go to 3.3 in the bIOS.
The new video drivers that Mark has for the ATI's is something that increased the scores. -
yes, mark has been doing wonders on the drivers. no mistake about that there...but still...seems to go with what i mentioned.
i wish i had them problems. "oh clevo.. can you up my multipliers please. thank you" their reply "hell to the no!" *LMAO*
-
I always wondered, Mark seems to be really good at doing all this stuff. Cant he try and get ocing to work on the 9262? I mean he sells that too. I think its time he started working on that. Whos with me?
-
here here!! im with that, but umm....that wont be happening no time soon...
since i came in to the high end class of notebooks...it's like cutthroat alley up here!!and mark has already made it clear that unless you own a k|n invoice sheet, you have nothing coming. all ties have been cut due to all that has transpired over the last 6 months or so. and so far..clevo will not release the bios for modification. i think if intel came with a dual core chip at persay 45 to 55 watts, they might consider it, but until then....hell to the no!!
here goes 3 more...
1920x1200 dx10
1680x1050 dx10
-
-
-
-
I didnt say DX9 anywhere.
-
-
Hmm.. very nice scores/benches john. I'm impressed. Once I get my x9100 stable at 3.98 GHz then I'll try and compare.
Til then.. Im not even attempting.
-
I think he did 47fps in dx9. so yours was in DX10? also was that was stock or with OC done?
thinking about OCZ Whitebook over NP5796
