Just to clarify, There is no Home Basic Premium edition. There is a Home Basic and a Home Premium.

Home Basic is not worth anything, It doesn't even have the new Aero interface. Home Premium is sufficient for most user I would think. I'm running Ultimate, but that's just because "Ultimate" sounds cooler than "Home Premium" :p. Hehe, Ultimate has everything, it's like the business edition and Home Premium combined.

Home Premium seems to be the way to go for the majority of users.

I should mention though that Vista still needs a little time to get the bugs (compatibility, drivers, etc.) worked out. You may consider waiting until SP1 is released before making the switch. That is, unless you're itching to try out the new OS.
