I received my HEL80 about a week ago from powernotebooks.com. after comparing it to my desktop's monitor (dell 2005fpw), the screen on this laptop, well, sucks. at full brightness, whites have a yellowish tint to them and this causes pictures and everything to look bad. it doesn't get very bright either, and I have some light leakage at the bottom of my display. all I heard about this laptop is what a great display it had, and I'm pretty disappointed with mine. I sent powernotebooks an email about it last night but have yet to hear about it (not concerned, it is a weekend afterall). I just wanted to hear the rest of your guys' results with the screen...

    thanks

Well if we don't have a picture of the screen there really isn't much we can do to help you or tell you what is wrong.

Why not give their support a phone call? It's 24/7 english speaking people that pick the phone right up.

Going from the (lacking) detail, I'd suspect the problem lies in the internal connection between the video card and the display, sometimes in shipping these get wiggled loose. If not that, you screen might have been damaged. Either way the folks over at powernotebooks are there to help if you give them a call. I think the support number is on the bottom of the notebook, and on a letter they included in the box, and of course on their website.

I did take pics, but it's almost impossible to tell any difference between the two monitors in them... I'll play with the settings to try to get it looking a bit better...

Do you have the video drivers loaded?

Are you running it at 1680x1050?

Is it any different when in Ubuntu or XP Pro?

I'm honestly starting to wonder if people are afraid of your "easy to understand / treat you like real people" support.. :D

Maybe you should hire a single rude foreigner with their own special phone number, one with a machine that walks through 45 steps just to say "I don't understand your problem" and hangs up on you? :p
