    Hi all,
Just wondering if there's been any confirmation at all on the release of the hdmi port for the new zeptos. If there has been, I just can't seem to find it (it also doesn't help that zeptoforum.com is down for the count).
    Thanks!

    Thanks wave!
Does it not bother anyone that, for all its gaming prowess, screen output to any external monitor/hd lcd is vga-only (i.e. analog and inferior to digital)?
A bit like having 800 mhz fsb but no compatible 800 mhz RAM for the cpu to be able to talk to, no? (the analogy is apt I tell you)

wave told me the quality difference at 720p would be minimal, even at 1080p it wouldnt be too big. I've never myself compared hdmi to vga so cant tell from own experience. I wont do a lot of gaming so maybe thats why it doesnt bother me that much and I also have use for the tv-out.

Also some LCD's wont let you run 1:1 pixelmap with hdmi but will with vga I think.

It is more of a high performance / gaming laptop then a multimedia laptop. Atleast that is what many people buy it for. Analog has a good quality signal till about 1600x1200 or 1650x1050 for widescreen. If people want to play on external monitors or HDTVs they wont be using higher resolutions anyway because you cant game at these high resolutions.

HDTV movies might be the only thing that needs higher resolutions but since it doesnt have a HD-DVD or Blueray drive you cant play them anyway. You can download HDTV content but this is not big in europe yet. I dont really see much problems. The TV tuner option is not HDTV also. What do you want to do at such high resolutions?

The 800mhz ram is nothing todo with Zepto. Blame Intel for that. Santa Rosa doesnt support it. It is not needed anyway though since 667mhz ram is faster then a 800mhz FSB.

Thanks a lot for the feedback!
I have to say I'm somewhat comforted by the info you've given me here. I guess vga ain't that bad after all, even though you do have to separately connect audio as I understand it.
Probably won't be plugging into any hd lcd anyway, just nice to know I could I guess..
At least the laptop screen is digitally connected... right?
And I wasn't pointing any fingers at anyone BUT intel for the 800mhz thing. News to me though that 667mhz RAM is faster than 800mhz fsb, live and learn :)
