    i will be in new york for 5 days (or maybe little more) i would like to buy a hel80...
    any shop who sell or assemble this in ny?

    If you buy in New York, especially while you're there, you'll have to pay sales tax. Is there a reason you want to buy in-store, versus online from someone out of state?

    i dont want to buy online cause i am not sure it will arrive in time while i am in ny....also i dont have an address i would have to make it shipped to a friend...and i like to try and touch what i am buying thats a good old feeling!!
    how much are taxes? 8%?

    so any shop selling this machine??

    nope I was just in NY the closest you're gonna get is geared2play which only do asus models

    well i was thinking about asus in the first place...

    but the best suitable asus model like the z62j has the very big drawback of not having a pcmcia which is absolutely necessary for my soundcard...
    another suitable model the z62f has no sata drive and embedded graphics...
    maybe not so big issues performance wise..but i think that if i buy this i will always regret a little that i didnt buy the top ...
    i am doing professional audio (cubase) and live performances...

    so in the end is it possible that in a city as big as new york there is not a single reseller for compal laptops? are those laptops so much a rare underground hidden secret?

    yeah lol they're almost impossible to get ahold of as you can see by the resellers list in the compal faq but it may still be better to order somewhere else if you talk to donald or ron i'm sure that they will help you out :)
