Power USB button works without any programs. It gives you power on left USB ports when notebook is off.
"S" button works with SmartBattery. When you'll change charging to less than 100% in it, this button overrides this setting to default 100%. -
If you have setup the power schedule for extended battery life charging the battery to maximum 50%, then you have decided to go out, then you would like to charge the battery at 100%, then you press the S button and i will do just so.
The power USB button is like Morthal said, you can use it for normal USB products like USB flash memories, but you can also charge batteries of a cellphone for instance or power up other USB products, perhaps ipod, etc. -
ahh okay thanks understand now.. can i turn off the saverif i dont want to use it without the button for a while?
-
Once you activate the button, another click will turn it off. The button works (the led will lit) only if your battery is < 50% and you want to bring it up to 100%. If you battery is kept at 100% charged, the power button won't work.
-
ahh okay gotcha so it doesnt run till i hit the button.. hmm not to bad i guess
-
And that the battery is setup for extended life and balance. So, it is good to download the smart battery driver.

now do i want to install the fingerprint reader stuff.. i hated that on my sager i uninstalled it and just left it off.. it just wanted me to input my prints all the time and i didnt want to..
-
I didn't, I don't need it, some people like it and some people hate it, especially when the sensor doesn't recognize their fingerprint and they can't access their computer anymore
If people can steal your id, then they can also still your fingerprint, so I'm cautious about putting my fingerprint in my HDD. -
The fingerprint software managed to hog 1.5gb of ram by itself in vista x64 so I got rid of it...
Wasn't it supposed to be a model of the ifl90 with a tpm chip? -
as far as i can tell this does not have the tpm in it
-
Yes, it is located in the southbridge chipset.
-
hmmm i dont have a setting in the bios??
-
You won't see it there, the BIOS menu for compal is the dumbest I have ever seeing.
But you will find the biometric adapter under the device manager. -
where to find it then? is it software i have to install.. yeah the way compal does things is really odd imo
-
I don't remember how I installed it, but you should have gotten it with your laptop, if not you can get it directly from Compal web site or http://www.bizcom-us.com/support/TechSupportDriversDownloadPage.htm#FL90

Been wondering about how to use those buttons ill give smart battery another try but it appears the power usb button if either not working, or just doesnt work with ipods... Which is kind of annoying since thats the main thing i charge on here.
I also noticed the fingerprint reader program used massive ammounts of memory after a time i looked it up and it sounds like it has a memory leak so i uninstalled it. Can no longer launch individual programs with each finger but no big loss and you can still use the reader to log on as well as a password if my fingerprints dont work. -

Edit: The plugin was experimental so i had to login to firefox to install itworking well now thanks for the post

I can't seem to get the USB charging to work. I put my computer in standby. The phone is plugged in on the left side. The button turns amber, but phone doesn't charge. I am plugged into the wall, but battery is left out.
-
If anyone has managed to get this feature to work can you post what device it was? -
