I'd get the first because it has twice as much ram and this would help a lot when running Vista.

    Hi Lynn.

Are there budget constraints involved here? I would also opt for the first option--but if you don't really need the extra 20 GB of HD space then you can save a few bucks there. Also, 2 GB of RAM is nice but by no means an absolute must at this point in time unless you intend to play some of the more demanding recent games or will be running a lot of resource-hungry applications.

You can always upgrade to 2 GB later, but most of the resellers I've looked at in the past have very decent RAM prices.

The two options you have outlined are not so far apart--so it comes down to your budget and what you're willing to spend. Are you willing to spend more to get more?

I wouldn't recommend any system with less then 2gb of ram. If you aren't gaming(even if you are) I'd say you could also back down to a 5400rpm drive and get more space for your money... Speed of the drive will improve with a larger drive since the platter density increases.

    Lynn,
No matter what you do, make sure and call Powernotebooks before placing your order. Speak with either Donald or Ron and they will be more than willing to help you make some of the final decisions--without trying to sell you on something you don't need.

Donald was very helpful and didn't put any pressure on me to buy. And ask (over the phone) about ongoing specials. Trust me on that one at the very least.
