Hi!
I have a big trouble with the wireless network.
I use a wirelesss router(philips snb 6500) to my wireless network.
But my compal hel80i seems to have som difficulties with the wireless network.
When I connect, it could take only second before Internet is not working allthough the laptop is connected.. then I must disconnect and then reconnect. But then again, I surely most do this all over again..
What is the problem? My father has "dell inspiron 6400" and that is working fine....why is it only my hel80i who is bad?
I have updated with newest driver.....
Could someone explain what could be the problem?

Are you using the Intel software to connect?
I know that windows XP requires a patch to get some WPA to work (assuming you are using WPA/WPA2 security). -
I use vista home premium, and the wireless network wpa2...

Did you install the Intel software for vista? or are you just using the Vista built in software?
Make sure you are using this: http://www.bizcom-us.com/support/HEL80/DriverVistaIntel/06_WirelessLAN.zip -

Are you using DHCP? Maybe you could try giving your laptop a static IP and see if problem persist.

Good Idea kennethyam88!
Or perhaps he could drop the security in his router, just to verify he can connect for a brief while.
If he can't, maybe we can help better figure something out. -

I think something's either messed up with your router, or your aerials.
It might be either that the card inside the compal is improperly placed, check that, or that the router itself is improperly hooked up.
Do also try to 1) check with another wireless card in the compal machine 2) update firmware to the newest on your wireless router. -
Maybe the antenna leads aren't connected to the internal network card?

If that was the problem I should not get connected at all...
Router firmware is updated, but the latest update was releases in desember 2005...Therefore I think it maybe is a driver problem...but still...weird that inspiron 6400 works fine.... -
Actually if your antenna leads aren't connected, there is still the ability to pick up a signal, but it would be VERY weak and prone to drops and disconnects throughout the day because of how the EMI changes during peak hours through the power grids as well as your homes usage or lights, tv, etc..

Well, there's only one way to find out
What I'd do if you're too uneasy upon prying open your book (which for checking the antenna isn't really that much of a deal) you could try connecting to another wireless AP and see if the problem persists.
