i have a hel 80 with a geforce go 7600(256 mb), core 2 duo t7200, and 2 gigs of ram.

When i play world of warcraft, my fps goes down to around 10-15 in areas with a lot of action, anyone know if this is normal, or if there is something i should do to fix it? I remember getting much better framerates on my old laptop which was running an ati x300 video card...

if it matters i am using windows vista.

I am having the same problem when I play WoW. Even when I turn some of the settings down it still seems to be having problems with low framerates. The look is fine and it doesnt bother me much but it would be nice to get over this problem and have better rates. Some i talked to said it could be the number of addons but disabled has the same effect. With vista I did turn off the sidebar and turned off areo but supprisingly I got slightly better framerates with areo enabled, that scared me abit. my compal has a 4.5 gaming rate which should be way above that which is needed for wow.

    anyone able to help?

How is the heat on your system? Does it seem to be running hot when playing WoW? It's always possible that the system is underclocking in a desperate attempt to keep from overheating, so you might want to just open up the panels on the underside and use some compressed air to clean out the system (especially fans/heatsinks).

    EDITED TO ADD:
Do you have similar problems on any other games or just WoW?

nope just with wow. well as far as i can tell, no other games i play really have framerate meters but they look just fine to me, some look better then wow. i clean out my fans regularly, almost every other week but still it does it, my laptop has always ran hot, but running a temp meter it has never gotten over 160*F

If it's just WoW, it's possible that Blizzard made some changes in a recent patch. Do framerates improve at all if you lower the resolution and/or reduce quality settings?

I run it in windowed mode as running it full screen causes my audio to become staticy. lowering the resolution helps slightly but then also causes the game to be much more defunct with quality. Having lowered my settings I did not see any change in the frame rate. I am not certain if it may be my video driver but compals driver site shows no updates for the video driver and NV doesnt post drivers for the mobile card.

You may want to try out LaptopVideo2go.com's latest driver release.

    Go to:
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=16311

Click on the download link labeled "Driver" to download 16745_vista.exe (SAVE the file to your desktop. Don't just run it).

Once the file has been saved, go ahead and run it, then tell it to extract to a new folder on your desktop (it should default to a folder called 16745_vista, but you can name it whatever you want).

Go back to the link above and right-click on the download link labeled "Modded INF." Save this inside the 1674_vista folder (it will overwrite another file already there).

Open the 16745_vista folder and run the setup to install the driver.

Incidentally, is your framerate better when you're running in full screen?

i updated my display driver and that did alot, i am now getting an average of 25 in outland, 20 in shatt, and 30 in azeroth. Going into full screen i get maybe 5 fps more, not certain on the sound problem yet as it usually was inconsistant on when it happened. all looks good now tho, thanks for the driver update ^^
