No. You are only changing the CPU, the OS won't mind. I'm not sure how good the penryn is on XP though as a lot of places claim that they require Vista to realize there full potential.

For me it just worked fine. No problems.

For full potential I use self compiled linux. No comparison to win XP. Can't believe that an overloaded os like vista would run better than that.

The big penryn T9500 is now runing in my 6324w.
But i have a big problem, if i go in standby, and wake it up, th book does strange things.
    The Fsb switches like crazy.
Is there any update or do i have to upgrade to vista?
The worst thing is, to play games on limit i have to do the standby fix to set the gpu limitation to 110°C, and now i could only play till 96 degrees.
    Please help me.....thanks.

Did you update to the latest bios? It adds support for Penryn processors.
The latest bios pn Zepto's ftp is z14N006. Try that, if you have already installed it try resetting your bios to default. I plan on putting one of those processors in my znote some time soon.

of course i updated to the latest bios.
I load th default settings in bios, but no changes.
    The FSB switches.
That is the problem why zepto had no setvice for xp and penryn, is bios related i think, by the way i have a new xp system on the notebook with integrated sp3.
Only Problems.......i think i have to check out vista.....

I would definately try a copy of Vista. Zepto aren't the only ones not supporting Penryn AND Windows XP. Sony don't officially support it either (at least thats what I was told by Sony European support).

I am using T8100 under Ubuntu Hardy Heron and Windows XP, no problems with gaming, temperatures, etc. I only have sleep-hibernate problems reportedly because of my graphics drivers version under XP but again I never use sleep or hibernate so never tried fixing the problems.

the sleep-hibernate problems are caused by the gpu-driver? mmmh are there any workarounds for it, or should i use only a different driver-version. (which one?)
