If you don't use 300Mbit. Go for the Intel 3945.
If you use 300Mbit I would go for the Intel 4965.

Is 54Mbit enough to stream internet and also stream video (which is not HD ) ?

    3945 is not an option?

Im guessing you mean intel's draft-N vs zepto 300Mbit?

Ah, I see. You can't pick 4965 on the Global website. Strange. I think the 3945 is acutally a 4965. Thy probably just forgot to change the name. The 3945 is supposed to be cheaper than Zeptos card, and the 4965 is more expensive than the Zepto card.

Call the support and ask what's wrong with their site :)

Either way I would recommend the 4965, which costs slightly more than the zepto card. I know they sell 6625WD with that wireless card even though it's not on the global site. Like I said, they probably forgot to change the name?

EDIT: Choose "power" when you configure, and you'll get the 4965 as an option

I went for the Intel card because there's a much greater chance of the final version of the wireless n standard being compatible with Intel. At the moment I haven't had the opportunity to test whether the draft n technology works.

Wenzu, Which country are you wanting to order from??

The Intel 4965 is available on the power configuration of the 6625WD but not on the value. I have added it to the value as well now so you can select either. The Zepto wireless is very good and sells well. Now you have all the options so you can make an informed choice

I am from Malat. The only thing that sets me off is that from what i hear there could be more compatibility problems when having 300Mbit Zepto. And btw the iontel 4965 nad Zepto have same technology don't they ?

The Intel 4965 runs on the Intel 4965 chipset and the Zepto Zpro runs on the Atheros AR5008X chipset.

Atheros chipset has some unique features and is well supported in Linux. I'm of the view that it should be very good if not better than the Intel wireless.

I've always had Intel wireless cards in the past. Until I bought my 6324W. At the time of buying my laptop the Intel wireless card would of made it take an extra 6 days so I took the chance and went for the Zepto Wireless card. So far I can't complain about it's performance. Infact I would go as far as to suggest that it seems to be more reliable than the Intel 3945 card's I've had at connecting to, and staying connected to, the numerous wireless networks I log onto.

I'm having a little problems with my WLAN. I have Zepto Wpro wireless card and
it's losing network once in a while. It seems to do it randomly. Once I restart windows everything works again fine. Booting modem (zyxel 660hw-d1) doesn't help.
I've tried changing encryption/channel/firmware for the modem but it doesn't help either.

    Any suggestions?

what version of windows are you using? Vista originally had a problem with the wireless network dropping out at random specifically when resuming from sleep/hibernation. It was fixed with a hotfix. I can't remember which one it was that fixed it at the moment, but it will be included with SP1.

What encryption are you using? Try just basic WEP or none for a short while. Are you able to try another router? A friends perhaps. Is the router anywhere near a microwave oven, cordless telephone base station, television or PC monitor. These can and do interfere with wireless networks as they all have harmonics that operate in the same frequencies as the 802.11b/g wireless signal. These are just a few things I would try before the PC hardware.

I've tried different encryptions and currently using WEP. At the moment I don't have another router to test.. and there isn't any of the mentioned appliances nearby the router.

After talking to a friend of mine he had a problem similar to yours. He was using a DLINK router and every now and then the computer would start to drop in connection speed then suddenly go. Only way to get it back was to reboot the PC. I'll find out what he did to resolve this and let you know.

From the command prompt, try this:
For several reasons, including infestation from spyware, these settings might get corrupted. Netsh contains a command that will reset the TCP/IP stack to the original settings that existed when the operating system was installed. These settings may not be the most up-to-date for your system but they will allow you to reconfigure after a spyware invasion or other problem. The command to reset TCP/IP is
    netsh int ip reset {logfile}
Note that you must include the name of a file where a log of the actions will be placed. Thus, if the log file is C:\tcplog.txt, the command is
    netsh int ip reset C:\tcplog.txt

You will need to reboot the PC once this has been done. This solved my friends problems. :)

Thanks andy for help. I think I found the solution..(knock knock)

I opened a telnet connection to my router and entered this line:

    wan adsl opencmd gdmt

I have no clue what it did but everything has been working smoothly for two days... again, knock knock.

That is setting the ADSL modulation to GDMT on your wireless router. Not sure how it's fixed your wireless drop out's, but hey good one :).

Ok, I've been doing some more research and found that Win XP is limiting TCP/IP connections to 10 per second. Here's a patch that can increase the number of connections:

    http://www.lvllord.de/?lang=en&url=downloads

    Let's hope it works.
