    Hi ~

I picked wrong version of ECs firmware for my Windows XP System's Cf-19 and upload it already.
Current version of my Cf-19 is V110L11 ... This is for Vista and I can't use "wb191x16.exe" to reflash my bios.
When I trying to execute the file but it give me the following massage : "BIOS has already been updated"
How to restore ECs firmware back to V100L11 ?

    Welcome to the forum!

I may be wrong (And if I am I'll bet someone will point it out) but I don't think you can "downgrade" your BIOS revision. Are you saying that your recovery disk that is meant for Win XP Pro now gives you the dreaded, "This model not supported" when you try to load it?

You could possibly try to call Panasonic directly at (800) LAPTOP5 (laptop FIVE).

They are usually pretty good at being able to help you or definitively tell you whether or not you can do this.

You can always load via any XP Pro install disk using your COA on the bottom... You'll just need to load your own drivers. It takes a few hours but it is easy to do.

    Thanks for your reply sir

I bought this cf-19 last year from China internet market so that I don't have any offical recovery disk
I am trying to update the bios to enable Wireless Wan. So I downloaded the "wb191x16.exe" on Toughbook Suppport Center and this is BIOS V1.00L16 / EC V1.00L11 for Re-Downgrading to XP" for 19mk1 XP Downgrade model.

    At first I executed this file and as you said : 'This model not supported";
so I searched Toughbook Suppport Center again and got the following two files

    EC Upgrade for Windows Vista
EC Update for CF-19C/D to Support Windows Vista
    19m1ecl11.exe [zip, 768k]
    BIOS Upgrade for Windows Vista
BIOS Update for CF-19C/D to Support Windows Vista
    19m1bl15.exe [zip, 228k]

I applied these two files on my Cf-19 .and I can't boot into XP.
Fortunately I found a way to restore Bios version and booted into XP again but I can't restore the EC firmware version.
Now FN+F4 to control sound on/off is malfunctionl on my cf-19 .That's why I am trying to restore EC firmware.

If you are trying to use your recovery disks you will have problems... But you can still load XP Pro manually and then load the drivers yourself. It is very easy to do and there are links here where to get the drivers as well as how to install them. INstead of taking 30-45 minutes it will take you a few hours... But how often will you have to do this? Heck... Do it once, clone the disk for future use if needed.

Life is too short to be stuck with Vista!

Look for the bios update file on the japan update site
It does work, if no download from the usa or canada site
I flashed the bios fine on my cf19 mk1 digitizer
    Bios v 1.01L16 Embedded controller v 1.10L11
And I could not tell the difference between the bios file update for vista

I run with two different caddies xp tablet + vista with no issues
I reloaded from the proper panasonic restore disks

When I want to give up and a idea is pop up in my head.
Maybe I can update BIOS to VISTA and boot to VISTA then restore BIOS to XP.
It is so amazing because it's worked. Thank GOD!

First, I get "bios_19_1_r070207.exe(unzip is wb191v16.exe)" from Toughbook Computer Support and Downloads Center.
This file is for VISTA and I upgrade my Cf-19's BIOS.
And then OS reboot into XP(Good !means I don't need install VISTA), I try to execute wb191x16.exe(this is for XP) again.
This process is very smoothly, and this time OS does not show "This model not supported".
Now ECs firmware is back to V100L11, and all FN-key is runing correctly.
I think my experience could be helpful to support that if someone get wrong BIOS into his CF-19.

To Tomcat57 : After I flashed BIOS & ECs for VISTA then boot into XP I find FN+F4 is malfunctionl...I don't know why...but when I restore BIOS & ECs to XP all FN function is runing correctly.Maybe the ECs is diferent between VISTA and XP.

To Toughbook : "Life is too short to be stuck with Vista!" I can't agree with you more haha
