The industry has made you think you were advancing, while in fact you are retroceding. That's your problem.

You came to "our" forum to ask questions and seek our advise and then insult us when we don't give you the answer you want to hear???? We must be psychologically challenged because we don't agree with your viewpoint????
Hmmph.
Have a nice day Sir. I hope you find what you are searching for. -

Hoffentlich kannst du auch eine neue Sprache lernen und mal nach Amerika kommen, und dann kannst DU DEINE Augen aufmachen. Hier ist nicht alles so wie du denkst.
Having been were you are I can comprehend exactly what you have.
I have also seen what the members of this forum are suggesting.
I can say with certainty that their solutions are far superior to what you are trying to accomplish.
P.S. Please stop throwing around insults, you are putting shame on my people that is not duly deserved. -

I just realized what the hell was going on here when I saw this thread spring to 6 pages over night... It truly is RIDICULOUS! Mnmen, you have made me laugh my off AGAIN, AS USUAL, LIKE CLOCKWORK! Thanks for that!
Sap+, may I ask how old you are? If you don't mind?
I'm going to say a few things to voice some reason to my "insanities" (That aren't even insanities but practical approaches to technology) and NOT confuse the hell out of you...
1) Europes GSM cellular system is GREAT... I know this because I've studied it for YEARS. I also know people that have gone to Europe for months on end to prove it as well. There system is so far better COVERAGE wise (not speed wise) that it is assinine to think that you would even want an external antenna
2) The US is DOMINATED by CDMA, NOT GSM (As Rick has told his 2 cents too)... which is why companies like Verizon, Sprint and Alltel dominate the US, AND have roaming agreements in place so that you are pretty much guaranteed to have cell service AND 3G data service. (Which I pay $50/month for my Sprint card BUILT IN to my Toughbook, which is the MOST PRACTICAL thing EVER! PERIOD! END OF STORY!.) And YES, I have tried EVERYTHING in regards to that! I would take it one step further stating that I've been using data since the GC79 days back with Voicestream (Before they became T-Mobile US) to have GPRS, which ran at 53.6kbps!
Rob - shutting up now before I say something that will someone else off -

You are arguing against the entire board here, and are highly unlikely to get anywhere. Granted, although most car kits are disappearing off the market, I'd argue this is due to market progression - the appearance of the Bluetooth connection to your car radio is a much nicer feature. Logistically it's a lot easier, but you can't do an external antennae connection over Bluetooth.
The cheap price plans to pay for another tariff in order to put a seperate SIM card into your laptop means the market doesn't really need to support mobile phone tethering as you suggest. I'd also argue again that the market clearly is moving forwards at a rapid pace - I can get HSDPA 7.2 in most areas in and around London, and HSDPA 3.6 in pretty much every other area in England. Those kind of speeds are faster then a lot of people's wired broadband connections (congestion permitting).
Last but not least, we are not all Americans on this board (although the majority are I think!), and I still disagree with you. -
I saw this coming in page 2 but didn't want to provoke.

I have been good so far. I'm not sure what it is you feel the equipment suppliers and the telcoms should be providing for your benefit. I do know that the American made Ford Fusion with the MicroSoft Sync option will allow you to do precisely what you seem to want to do with the exception of the control panel (?) next to the steering wheel, it uses voice, "look ma no hands". Others here, much more knowledgeable than I, have responded to your technical nonsense. I am responding to your rude and now insulting comments about our government, industry, and now the religion of over a billion people. I strongly suggest, as Rick said, that you find another forum to bother. I get the feeling you would be happier on a forum focused on paranoia or hate rather than a happy group of computer geeks.

Bluetooth Hands Free Sun Visor LCD Display Car kit
And, "No!"; I do not have any financial links to any referenced items I've identified; now or previously. -
While we're on the subject...
My dad is nearly deaf (cochlear implant). Is there a handsfree cell phone car kit that is particularly louder and clearer than the rest? It would be going into that Toyota 4x4 hybrid. -

This is simply getting too emotional, and that is not my fault. I asked a simple and justified question, and as a reaction, most of you just couldn't control yourselves anymore.
So I didn't read in detail the rant poured out here, but just to dilute some of your concerns:
I am 61, german, know not only the US quite well from a number of extended stays, speak several languages fluently - and yes, I'm not the beer-belly kraut type you may associate - rather think of the attractively-looking 'good' wehrmacht officer that your movie industry has introduced to you so many times. Although I now feel more like the 'evil kind', after so much obvious stupidity on display here... .)
You just can't comprehend that your 'bling technology' (again, I'm talking about how to install a handheld phone in a car) is not the state of the art. A complete carkit however is, which turns a handheld phone into a carphone, with connection to the external antenna and access to the phone's HSPA modem. Anything else is trash.
I know I touched a very sensitive point here with you, this is one of the reasons why I kept insisting. The other reason is that our industry has the habit (Mercedes & co apart...) to copy your industry's 'snaps ideas', so what is presented to you as the latest achievement will as sure as death come over to us, a few years later.
Our industry behaves like the proverbial negroes, when the whites came: Just as they traded territories against glass pearls, so do ours trade diamonds against glass pearls - or gold against scrap. Your bling technology doesn't deserve a better name, compared to our robust and solid state-of-the-art (ex) products.
Already forgotten again with all the emotions running high? We're talking about the way to install handheld phones - not about the USA nor americans in general. I know your strong points quite well, and I appreciate them. But there are others, too. You would be well advised to wake up to reality and become a bit more self-critical.
Nothing new, all said? I would deem so. I started the discussion, and you'll permit me if I close it off. It sure was nice to meet all of you. -
Whew!!!!!!!!

Since I am too emotional.........
Now that the horse is dead, I will stop beating it and go flog myself for being such a miserable excuse for a human.
I guess the inferior races need to learn to worship the superior Germans.....Oh that's right....we already tried that once....It went BAD..
I am US born with German heritage. -
Wow...what a long thread for such a simple question
I really don't have the time to read through this whole thread ,but just in case no-one answered the OP's original question I will take the time

I think if you looking for a factory looking mount I would go with a RAM Mounting Systems, Inc. and from there you can pay losts of $$$ or make you own just off there design. One of the mechanices at the Fire Dept made one for his work truck for his CF-31 and it came out great now others what one like his.
I think it only took him about a day to build it. And its in a 2009 Ford F-550 Custom work box with small outrigger. -

Well... I am certainly glad THAT is over with.
I see not'ing.... I hear not'ing....
