I am working with the 1 GHz.
I have restore disks for Win 2000 for my 600 MHz, but the 1 GHz has XP COA.
I have a XP installation disk, which is how I got past the XP password.
The question is this...
Should I just do a fresh install of XP, and then download the drivers from Panasonic, or...
Install 2000 from the COA from my 600 MHz to get all the drivers at once...and then upgrade to XP.
I am so confused...

I'd just install XP right now, because drivers aren't too hard to install.
Plus you'll have to update all the drivers anyways. -
Thanks Modly.
BTW, I had to call M/Soft to get authorization for the XP re-install to get past the password...Am I screwed, or do I just call them again???
I don't currently have the XP installed on any other machine...

I think it's worth a try to call MS. That's what I had to do when I re-installed XP on my previous laptop.

For the record, I hate Windows and it's registration system.
But yes, if you have to, call Microsoft. Oh, and tell them you wish Apple would start making a rugged laptop so you could switch to the Mac OS -

Check out the ThinkPad X300. I dig the ThinkPad look, btw.
-
It's nothing new stylewise; in fact, it still carries most of the same design features of my aged 380XD.
IBM - LISTEN TO ME. TAKE OUT A LOAN, BUY A CLUE. THE J-MOUSE SUCKS. IT ALWAYS SUCKED. ABANDON IT COMPLETELY, ADMIT YOUR MISTAKE & GET OVER IT. I'M SICK OF TRIPPING OVER THE D@%&ED THING WHEN I TYPE.
I like the 2.5 LB weight; it's almost as light as my beloved old Dell L400; But it's still thick... this whole tapered profile thing the manufacturers are doing is BS. I don't want a laptop that's half an inch thick at one edge and an inch thick at the other like this one... I want one that's simply half an inch thick. If you can't do that don't BS me; give me one that's 3/4 of an inch thick.
The MacBook Air does the same thing, only thinner. It profiles from 3/8" to 3/4", plus it's case is ALL ALUMINUM... NO PLASTIC. Even the keyboard & LCD bezels are die-cut anodized aluminum... I'll give in to the extra half-pound for that; and remember, I can still install any version of WinBloze I might want.

I know the ThinkPad look is old, but that's why I like it!
And many people love the Trackpoint. -
Just to follow up with everyone. I have the 1 GHz up and running with XP and all the drivers.
Lookin' Good!
Thanks to all. -
Sweetness! Maybe I should get a Toughbook for dropping on things.
(I say that because my Vostro got accidentally shoved out of our car while unloading and hit the asphalt from about four feet up. The magnesium alloy case pulled through fine, but the powder coating took a scratch).
