I am sure this must have been covered before, but for the life of me i cannot find a thread on it anywhere. And i have a new-to-me CF-18 coming in the mail today so i am doing anything to try and kill time :D

Anyway my question is this; how are you guys making sure you're TB is waterproof after breaking it down? Obviously some seals cannot be reused, trusted, etc. My first thought would be to use silicone, but if you are anything like me it will be coming apart again on one long boring day and silicone can make that a nightmare.

I ask mainly because i have a pristine CF-18 and a immaculate CF-29 both of which are coming apart soon for some "fun" :D

Go to a dive shop and get a tube of silicone grease this is what is commonly used on underwater camera housings and diving gear o rings to keep them supple and definitely waterproof.

You MUST make sure that it is 100% silicone! If there are ANY petroleum distillates... It will seal for about 2-3 days.... And then the petroleum distillates will start to eat away at the rubber seal. You MUST make sure that the content is clearly spelled out. I've seen many people spray stuff on seals trying to get them to come back to life or to make them swell enough to produce a better seal... Only to find out later they need to buy more seals!
