    ok this is gona sound stupid , but i picked up some external gps antenas from an auction and i was wondering if i wanted to upgrade the antenna in my 18 do i have to do any thi goto the board or just change the antenaa i know nothing about gops in TB's , i want to say they are better cant tell bye looking n o part numbers no nothing they are bigger though then the stock nub mount? any thoughs

    Most GPS antennas have some sort of an LNA (Low Noise Amplifier) built in, which is fed power up the coax from the GPS receiver. These are usually referred to as active antennas.
    The only trick is that different antennas have different voltage requirements, and you need to be sure that the new antenna is the same voltage as the old one
