One of the guys out here laptop died. It was a 3 year old Toshiba. After testing it turned out to be the motherboard, won't even give error beeps with the ram pulled. I have a old CF-T5 (core solo)I am going to give him out on the rig with me when I finish some Linux testing\and wifi testing with it.

I forgot to bring a extra charger with me and only have the one charger. The Toshiba charger has the right size plug to charge the toughbook. Do you think it would be OK to use this charger to charge the laptop when it is off and only run the laptop on battery? I know the voltage is higher and some people have gotten away with it for a while. He will mainly be watching movies on it in his bed.

No.....It will probably blow the fuse on the MB. Or it will take out the regulation IC. Share the correct charger and get the correct one when you get off the rig.
If you had the external battery charger it may be ok or at least worth a try. I would not want to risk toasting the T5.
I have heard people getting away with the higher voltage on a fully rugged..It seems to be very random though. One guy got away with 19v for quite a while other guys have said it fried the MB instantly...

I was hoping since it wasn't running it may be less pull on the system, I figured it would have the same basic effect charging it that way. Thanks.

If you have some diodes available, you can lower the voltage. Each one has a forward drop of 0.7 volts so 3-4 in series with the 19 volt power supply should do it. Must be rated for the current, probably 2-3 amps at least to charge the battery.
