I've just acquired a pair of ToughBook CF-T5s, one a U1400, and the other a U2400. Given Murphy's law, guess which one has an issue?

The U2400's screen works at power-on, but after ~30 seconds, the backlight goes out. So, I'd like to move the U1400 screen to the U2400. Does anyone have a link to a disassembly guide? I've done a fair bit of laptop repair before, so I'll probably try, even if nobody does.

    Thanks!

These T5's are the devil to work on, lots of different screws. Suggest making sure it's not simply a shorted wire at the hinge -- open and close it alot, look for flickering.

Yeah, I already checked that, unfortunately. It seems to be heat-related. I'm assuming that some component in the display has a cracked solder point, and as soon as it starts to heat up, it loses contact.

    Thanks!

I have one that the backlight doesn't like to come on at all... I know the inverter is good, I know there is a short somewhere..
The unit just might have to be flanged mace tested. ;)
