    31 Mk5, or a CF-33 as CF-19 replacement?

I've been thinking about buying a CF-31 Mk5 to replace my aging and extensively modded CF-19 Mk7, but I also saw that the 33's have come down in price considerably.

Will I regret doing my 19 Mk7 away for something newer like a 31 Mk5, or maybe even a 33 given I can find one for a sane price?

CF-31 is 2x larger-heavier. If you want a larger screen - CF-33 is ok, but heavy too. I prefer CF-20 for it's portability.

    CF-20 would be a downgrade spec/performance wise. 16GB RAM and a full-speed i5 in the 33 is very nice.

    i5-6300u is "full-speed"? :)
both have ~same "non-performance" benchmarks, but cf-20 is lighter and more power-efficient, while being as responsive as cf-19 mk7
so I still think it's a portability vs screen size choice

6300U has a 400 MHz lower Turbo but A. it's Skylake so significantly more efficient/higher IPC than Ivy Bridge, B. a far better iGPU, and C. it can be undervolted = even more power savings.

And then there's the option for a 33 with the 7300U which is higher clocked than even the fastest CF-19.

Too bad there are no 33's for sale with the specs I want: 7300U, 16GB or more RAM, and below $2k

I ended up getting myself a M6700 Covet instead, guess i'll stick with my 19 Mk7 for a few more years until the 33 becomes cheaper. Hell, maybe even the 33 Mk2's will come to the used market by then. (a 33 Mk2 with a i7-10810U and 32GB RAM would be the dream Toughbook for me)

I actually asked Panasonic PCSE last year during the Toughbook Innovation Event why Toughbooks didn't have Ryzen, they said it's because AMD has no vPro equivalent like Intel has. I agree though, a 33 with a Ryzen 7 5800U would be AWESOME.

wish I was invited for TIF 2021, oh well.

    Actually they have :)
And it's an easy way to lower temperatures.
